Section 01

Who is responsible for your data

Wavelength VR Ltd. (company number 11055409), 16 Elgin Crescent, London, W11 2JR, United Kingdom, is the controller for the limited personal data processed through Kinora. You can reach us at wavelengthvr@gmail.com.

Section 02

There is no account

Kinora does not have sign-up, sign-in or user accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth, and we have no profile of you on our servers to look up.

Section 03

What stays on your device

Kinora is local-first. The following is stored on your device and is not uploaded to us:

  • your swipes and the choices you make in a deck;
  • your ratings and any films you mark as seen;
  • your watchlist;
  • your taste profile, including your Movie DNA;
  • your onboarding answers and app settings;
  • cached film data used for offline browsing.

Deleting the app removes this data from your device. It may also be included in device backups you have set up with Apple or Google.

Section 04

What leaves your device: anonymous usage analytics

We collect a limited amount of anonymous, aggregated usage and stability information so we can understand whether the app works and where it fails — for example which screens are used, whether a deck was completed, crash and error reports, app version, device model and operating system version.

This data is not tied to your identity, and we do not attempt to re-identify you from it.

Section 05

What leaves your device: catalogue and lookups

To show you films, Kinora requests film data, artwork, trailers and streaming availability from our servers and from third-party providers. These requests necessarily include technical information such as your IP address and the items being requested.

Requests may include signals used to select which films to return, but they do not include your name or contact details, and your full taste profile stays on your device.

Section 06

What we never collect

  • no account credentials;
  • no GPS or precise location;
  • no advertising identifier;
  • no advertising or cross-app tracking;
  • no contacts, photos, microphone or camera data;
  • we do not sell your data.

Section 07

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your device is issued a push token used solely to deliver Kinora notifications. Notifications are optional and can be turned off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

Section 09

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers who help us run Kinora — hosting, analytics and crash reporting, film catalogue and streaming availability providers — and only to the extent needed to provide the Service.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or to protect our rights, users or the security of the Service.

Section 10

International transfers

Some of our providers operate outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Section 11

How long we keep it

On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Anonymous analytics and error reports are kept only as long as they are useful for understanding and improving the app, and server logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.

Section 12

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because Kinora has no account, most of your data is under your direct control on your device and can be deleted there.

To exercise any right, contact wavelengthvr@gmail.com. Note that anonymous analytics may not be linkable to you, which can limit what we can do in response.

If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

Section 13

Children

Kinora is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Section 14

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, but keeping your taste profile on your device rather than on our servers is a deliberate part of how we reduce risk.

Section 15

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Kinora develops. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date above, and we will tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
